Tom Innace

A Port Authority police officer since 1980, Tom Innace had risen to Lieutenant by 1993 when the first bombing of the World Trade Center occurred. Assigned to Newark Airport but assisting at the Staten Island bridges on September 11, 2001 he responded with three other officers to the World Trade Center as the first tower was struck. There he helped evacuate people streaming out of the building.

Tom was assigned to the family assistance program for Port Authority employees to help with the unfolding nightmare. He worked with many dignitaries, Presidential arrivals and departures and United Nations movements. Working with the FBI, Secret Service, Customs and the newly created Homeland Security departments kept work interesting. This was combined with the day-to-day airport criminal activity and airport fire response which was also handled by the dual police and firefighter role of Port Authority Police.

Since retirement travel and photography have been the main interests after seeing millions of people travel. Tom has been married to Jeanette for 37 years and have raised four wonderful children.

To give back Tom has been an active member since 2012 with the Saint Vincent de Paul society which helps the poor with counseling and financial aid.
